Nothing on the calendar this weekend? Homerun's arts reporter Pierre Landry has scoped the schedules for you and has five shows you won't want to miss!

Here are his picks for March 8, 9 and 10:

2.Jazz chanteuse Ranee Lee plays the lead in The Mahalia Jackson Musical, presented at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts. Jackson grew up in poverty in Louisiana before finding fame as The Queen of Gospel. Shows run at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday.

3. Lakeshore Light Opera is staging Gilbert & Sullivan's Princess Ida at the Louise Chalmers Theatre in Pointe-Claire. Jonathan Curzi directs. Shows run at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a matinee Sunday at 2.pm.

4. Montreal singer-songwriter Charlotte Cornfield is playing a show at the Cagibi on Saturday night. She received critical praise for her album Two Horses, released last year.

5. On Sunday night, Wesli, Doba, and Sika perform at Cabaret du Mile End to raise funds for Médecins du Monde in their fight against the cholera outbreak in Haiti.
