Pair found dead in Sorel-Tracy home possibly victims of murder-suicide
Mario Cournoyer, 54, and Louise Hamel, 51, lived together in single-family home
Quebec provincial police say the two people who were pronounced dead Thursday morning inside a Sorel-Tracey, Que. home could be the victims of a murder-suicide.
Police identified them as Louise Hamel, 51, and Mario Cournoyer, 54. The two lived inside the home and were likely a couple, police said.
Officers arrived at the single-family home on Napoléon-Laplante Street in Sorel-Tracy, about 100 kilometres northeast of Montreal, Thursday at around 7:45 a.m.. Police were responding a call from someone who said they would find two injured people inside the home.
"There, the police officers found two wounded individuals. Finally now we can confirm that the Sûreté du Québec is investigating the circumstances surrounding two deaths," said Sgt. Joyce Kemp of the SQ.
Autopsies are underway to determine the cause of death.
