Outremont car crash investigation taken over by SQ
Witnesses say crash happened after a driver tried to flee police and hit parked car
Quebec provincial police have taken over the investigation of a collision in Outremont Thursday morning that involved Montreal police officers.
The violent crash happened around 8:30 a.m. at the corner of St-Joseph Boulevard and Nelson Street and left an unidentified man with serious injuries.
Radio-Canada reports witnesses who say they called police to report a person driving erratically.
When police arrived on the scene, the driver attempted to flee at high speed and smashed into a parked car, witnesses told Radio-Canada.
The incident led police to close St-Joseph Boulevard between Parc Avenue and Côte-Ste-Catherine Road.
Provincial law requires another police force to investigate incidents in which civilians are injured or killed and police are involved.
