Normand Lester in critical condition after car crash
Witnesses say the 67-year-old journalist appeared to have a medical problem at the wheel
A 67-year-old man identified by Radio-Canada as journalist Normand Lester is in critical condition after his car hit another vehicle in Outremont this morning.
Police said the man's car hit the other vehicle from behind while it was stopped for a red light at Côte-Ste-Catherine and Courcelette Avenue.
Const. Simon Delorme of the Montreal police said the man is being treated in hospital, and doctors fear for his life.
"When he left the scene, he was still unconscious so we're following his condition minute by minute today," he said.
That section of Côte-Ste-Catherine Road was temporarily closed, but has since re-opened.
Lester is a radio commentator for 98.5 FM in Montreal.
