Kwasi Alfred Benjamin appeared in Quebec Court this afternoon and was charged with first-degree murder.

Angutiguluk, a 29-year-old Inuk woman originally from Nunavik, was found dead in an apartment in the city's Côte-des-Neiges in May.

Police ruled the death a homicide last weekend, nearly seven weeks after the discovery of the Inuk woman in an apartment at 7225 De Nancy Street on May 18.

Police had originally described Angutiguluk's death as "suspicious."
