Montreal's metro is up and running again after service went down on all lines this afternoon.

The city-wide metro outage hit commuters around 5:45 p.m.

According to Montreal's public transit corporation, the breakdown was caused by a computer problem.

This is the second time in less than a month that technical issues have brought the metro to a standstill

In 2012, Montreal's metro had more than 1,000 unplanned stoppages, making it the worst record for service delays in six years.

An internal report by the STM revealed that half of interruptions were caused by passengers.
