A British woman accused of abducting her child will be extradited back to the U.K. to face charges.

Helen Gavaghan violated a court order when she fled the U.K. in 2008 with her daughter Pearl, now seven years old.

Gavaghan has since lived with Pearl under assumed names in Mexico, Toronto and most recently Montreal.

She was detained after a run-in with Montreal police two weeks ago.

Pearl has since been returned to her father in Manchester.

Gavaghan appeared in a Montreal courthouse Friday morning. She did not challenge the extradition request.

A group of supporters and neighbours from Montreal gathered at the courthouse.

They said Gavaghan will fight for the right to see her child as soon as possible in U.K. courts.
