Montreal police are asking for the public’s help in their search for a former Sûreté du Québec captain who has been missing since Monday.
Éric Martin was the former second-in-command of Quebec's anti-corruption “Hammer” squad, a role he held until 2011. The unit was created in 2009 to investigate alleged collusion and corruption in Quebec’s construction industry.
Martin was last seen leaving his Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles home around 10:30 p.m. dressed only in pyjamas and slippers. His family says he was in distress, and it is concerned for his safety.
Martin had been on unpaid leave from the SQ, where he had been part of an organized crime unit since his transfer from Hammer squad.
