A 10-year-old girl is recovering in a Longueuil hospital after spending the night outside.

Longueuil police said a man waved over some officers who were patrolling in the area of the girl's school this morning, pointing out that the girl they'd been searching for since the night before was there.

Police said the girl turned up in front of her school just before 8:30 a.m. crying.

Her family reported her missing yesterday afternoon.

She was last seen by the school bus driver who dropped her off in front of her home in Old Longueuil.

A major search was launched involving 30 officers and two canine units, but they were unable to locate the girl.

She was taken to hospital for observation this morning and police hope to speak with her again tomorrow.
