Michael Gero charged with 2nd-degree murder in NDG death

Michael Gero, 23, has been charged with the second-degree murder after an attack in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce yesterday.

Michael Gero, 23, has been charged with second-degree murder after an attack in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce yesterday.

Yesterday, Montreal police officers found 19-year-old Sherri Thomas in an apartment on Grand Boulevard with serious injuries to her head and upper body. Gero was also at the apartment when police arrived.

Thomas was rushed to hospital, where she died. Montreal police confirmed that her death is Montreal's 27th homicide of the year.

Gero previously served jail sentences for possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, marijuana possession and escaping police custody.
