Metro grocery stores have pulled all XL Foods Inc. beef products covered by the recall from its shelves.

The CFIA did not ask that products be pulled from shelves until Sept. 16, but has decided to expand the recall after more concerns we brought regarding other products distributed by XL Foods.

In a statement released Saturday, the grocer said the measure applies to all Metro stores in Quebec and Ontario, this means all Metro, Metro Plus, Super C, Marché Richelieu and Food Basics will stop carrying XL Foods beef until the recall is over.

XL Foods' license was temporarily suspended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on Sept. 27 after the E.coli bacteria was found in beef products in the United States.
