Montreal police are investigating after a man and a woman were found dead in an apartment in LaSalle overnight.

Investigators gathering evidence after man, woman killed on Tuesday night

Montreal police are investigating two overnight homicides in LaSalle.

Const. Danny Richer said police responded to a 911 call on Tuesday night at an apartment building on des Oblats Street near the corner of Bergevin Street.

Police said neighbours had reported hearing what sounded like a fight, and when officers arrived they found two bodies inside the apartment.

Richer said the woman, 29, had been shot at least once in the upper body. She was declared dead on the scene.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to the hospital with a stab wound and declared dead on arrival.

The two deaths mark the 22nd and 23rd homicides of the year on Montreal police territory.

According to Richer, that number is on par with last year.

Investigators were on the scene on Wednesday to gather evidence.
