Man shot to death outside Saint-Léonard home
Man with alleged Mafia links is 6th homicide of 2013
A 49-year-old man who police say has links to the Mafia was fatally shot on a Saint-Léonard street Thursday night.
Montreal police say the shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Robert Boulevard and Bonnivet Street.
According to Radio-Canada, the victim's name is Vincenzo Scuderi.
Police will not confirm the victim's identity but did say the victim was "known [to be] related to Italian organized crime." They also said he had no prior arrests.
A witness called police after hearing shots fired, said Const. Daniel Lacoursière.
The victim was pronounced dead in hospital.
Police set up a large perimeter around the scene as they investigated the shooting. No arrests have been made.
It's the sixth homicide on Montreal police territory in 2013.
