Police fear for the life of a 48-year-old man who was stabbed in Town of Mount Royal, early Sunday morning.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The incident happened  near the corner of Jean-Talon Street and Lucerne Road around 3:20 a.m.

Police say two men were in a vehicle parked at a gas station when one stabbed the other.

The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and the suspect fled the scene.

Police arrested the suspect on Cote-de-Liesse Road a short time later.

Investigators are still trying to uncover a motive for the attack.
