A Rivière-du-Loup man was charged this morning with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a teenager.

Police found the body of 17-year-old Véronique Huard at an apartment complex outside of town after responding to a call about a disturbance.

Neighbours had called around 3 a.m. Tuesday, complaining of loud fighting.

The accused, 21-year-old Jason Theriault, was denied bail because of a series of past crimes.

Huard and Theriault had apparently been living there together for about a week.

Theriault’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 23.
