Loose pet python found in Quebec City man's backpack
Police found snake more than a day after it went missing inside owner's home
A python that got loose near Quebec City after its caretaker fell asleep has been found in a backpack inside its owner’s home.
Police were called by the Limoilou, Que., resident to help locate the snake, a beige-and-black jungle carpet python, after the owner lost track of it.
Police searched the apartment building and surrounding area overnight. Neighbours were worried to discover the giant snake was lost.
The owner found it just before 7 a.m. ET in his backpack inside his apartment.
The two-metre-long snake is not poisonous and is legal to have as a pet in Quebec.
Last year, two children were strangled to death in Campbellton, N.B., by a type of python much more aggressive than the jungle carpet python.
