Laval police search for sexual assault victims after arrest
Sporting coach allegedly assaulted teen boys during parties at his home
Laval police are searching for potential victims of a Laval man accused of sexually assaulting several teens.
Sylvain Leblanc, 53, was arrested in December for sexual assault, sexual touching, invitation to sexual touching with minors, and drug trafficking.
Police say Leblanc was a volunteer coach with a sporting association in Laval, and also pretended to be an investigator with provincial police.
Six alleged victims have come forward and revealed they were sexually assaulted during parties at Leblanc's home. Police say the suspect supplied drugs and alcohol during those parties.
According to Laval police Const. Franco Di Genova, investigators believe there could be more victims.
"Our six victims revealed certain information to our detectives ... They are convinced there are more victims out there. We want them to come forward," Di Genova said.
He said it's possible some of the victims are afraid because they still believe Leblanc is a police officer.
"Don't forget we are talking about young boys between the age of 14 and 17. They may be shy. They may be embarrassed."
Leblanc has been released on bail under strict conditions, and is due to return to Laval court on March 10.
Police are asking potential victims to call 450-662-4636.
