Quebec provincial police use spike mats to slow down vehicle
Spectacular footage of a police car chase was captured overnight by a camera operator with Radio-Canada, CBC's French Service.
The chase started at about 1:30 a.m. when police stopped a suspicious vehicle in the town of St-Jérôme, north of Laval.
Police said three people were inside the car, and when a police officer approached the driver's window, the officer could smell marijuana.
The driver took off when the police officer asked him to step outside of the car.
Police chased the car southbound on Highway 15.
Police tried twice to slow down the vehicle using spiked mats, but both attempts were unsuccessful
After about half an hour into the chase, police officers were able to stop the car by boxing it in, on Highway 15 near Souvenir Boulevard in Laval.
Three people were arrested and are being questioned today by the St-Jérôme police.
The driver could face charges including evading police.
