Laval mother faces attempted murder charge
The woman who was found unconscious next to her seven-year-old daughter on Wednesday morning at their Chomedey home has been formally charged.
The woman, who cannot be named because it would identify her minor children, did not appear in court because of her medical condition; instead, her lawyer, Mélany Renaud, was present.
The mother faces seven charges, including attempted murder.
The mother and her daughter were found by the woman’s husband Wednesday morning.
He woke up to find his wife lying in a bed, unconscious, with pill bottles nearby.
Police said the 7-year-old was lying beside her mother and vomiting.
They were both rushed to hospital in critical condition. The child is now stable, and the woman was just moved out of intensive care.
The 34-year-old woman is expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether she’ll be fit to stand trial.
The woman and her husband have three other children under the age of 10.
