Laval mother, daughter critical after apparent murder-suicide attempt
Three boys, father in Laval home treated for shock
A 34-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter were rushed to the hospital this morning after they were found seriously ill in their Chomedey, Laval home.
Police say they are in critical condition.
The pair were discovered by the woman’s husband when he woke up to find his wife lying in bed, unconscious — with pill boxes nearby.
Police said the 7-year-old was lying beside her mother and vomiting.
The man immediately called 911.
The husband said he was concerned his wife had overdosed on medication.
"We don't exactly what the young girl, the 7-year-old daughter took, but we presume that the mother gave her the same pills that she took," said Laval police spokeswoman Nathalie Lorrain.
The couple's other three children, boys between the ages of two and ten, were taken to the hospital and treated for shock, as was the father.
Laval police say the other children are otherwise in good health.
The police investigation continues.
