Laval police say the man found dead on a road in Laval last week was the victim of a hit and run.

Const. Evelyne Boudreau say police are trying to find the driver involved in the incident that occurred overnight Wednesday on Marcel-Villeneuve Avenue.

They were called to the scene shortly after 2 a.m., after another man reported that he had run over the body.

Investigators now believe the man who died was initially hit by a different vehicle that fled the scene.

Boudreau says police don't have a full description of the vehicle involved, but that it would have sustained damage to its front.

She says some other drivers saw the 38-year-old victim walking on the side of the road in the dark before he was struck.
