Police in the Montreal region made 10 arrests Thursday morning and may make several more following a cocaine trafficking bust.

About 90 officers from the Laval, Montreal, Mirabel, Blainville and Longueuil police forces searched eight addresses.

Const. Franco Di Genova said the tip came in via the Laval police’s info line.

He said that led to a police investigation that lasted several months.

“Today, our drug squad decided it’s time to pay all these people a visit,” Di Genova said.

He could not comment yet on what was seized during the searches, but said the group had been trafficking cocaine between the north and south shores of Montreal.

“The group in question is very well-structured, to the point where our investigators are convinced that they’re somehow intertwined with organized crime,” Di Genova said.

Those arrested are expected to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
