Helicopter searchers find 2 snowmobilers missing north of Baie-Comeau

A pair of snowmobilers who went missing in the Monts Groulx region about 330 kilometres north of Baie-Comeau, Que. were located this morning by a search-and-rescue helicopter.

An RCAF search-and-rescue helicopter located a pair of snowmobilers Monday morning, after they got lost in a remote area about 330 kilometres north of Baie-Comeau.

The pair was reported missing late Sunday after heading out on a trail in the Monts Groulx region, east of the Manicouagan reservoir.

Quebec provincial police said the two snowmobilers got lost after going off trail but were able to find shelter for the night. Police said they were found "safe and sound."

The pair was visiting from the Eastern Townships along with four other people.
