Head-on collision leaves 1 dead, 2 injured in Varennes

Police said a man in his 70s has died after a head-on collision on Montreal's South Shore, in Varennes.

Police said a man in his 70s has died after a head-on collision on Montreal's South Shore, in Varennes.

The two cars crashed into one other at about 7 p.m. on Monday evening, along Michael-Faraday Street. 

Police said a passenger who was riding with the man in his 70s was seriously injured. The other driver, a 36-year-old man, also suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to help the victims escape from their vehicles. 

Police said the collision happened quickly and it's still not clear what led to the crash.

The local police force is investigating.
