A phone call from the office of Finance Minister Jim Flaherty to Manulife Bank is drawing criticism after Flaherty admitted a member of his staff told the bank to back off its recent mortgage promotion.

Christopher Ragan, an associate professor of economics at McGill University and a former special adviser to the governor of the Bank of Canada, spoke with CBC's Daybreak on Wednesday.
