A fire that engulfed several buildings in the community of Donnacona, west of Quebec City, remained out of control early Saturday.

The fire erupted late Friday evening and Donnacona Mayor Sylvain Germain said five buildings on the main street (Rue Notre-Dame) were engulfed in flames.

There were no injuries reported and an emergency plan has been put in place to shelter evacuees at a community centre.

It was unclear how many people had been evacuated.

Donnacona is on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River about 43 kilometres west of the provincial capital.
