The Jordi-Bonet bridge was closed this morning after an fatal motorcycle crash in the Montérégie region.
Police said a 22-year-old motorcyclist died overnight after a crash on Highway 116 in Beloeil.
According to the preliminary information, police said the driver lost control of his motorcycle before running into a lamp-post.
According to police, who spotted the motorcyclist before the crash, the driver was going about 200 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Police said the bridge should be open to traffic by 10 a.m., but drivers heading westbound across the Richelieu river can opt to take Highway 20 as an alternative.
