One of the eastbound lanes on the Mercier Bridge was closed for several hours this morning after a fatal overnight crash.

Quebec provincial police Sgt. Christine Coulombe said the driver lost control of his vehicle, hit a railing and was thrown from his car while exiting the Montreal side of the bridge.

Coulombe said it’s possible the driver was speeding.

Officers were on the scene Friday morning to investigate.

All lanes on the bridge were re-opened shortly before 6:30 a.m.
