Police are blaming drunk driving for a head-on collision on Highway 138 near Lanoraie in the Lanaudière region on Wednesday evening that left two people with serious injuries.

Quebec provincial police say the driver of one of the vehicles was under the influence of alcohol and caused the crash.

The other car had four occupants, including two adults and two children. Both adults suffered serious injuries in the collision but the children weren’t harmed.

Police said the injured adults lives are not in danger.

The other driver was not injured and faces charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving.

Grande Côte East was closed while police went over the crash scene.
