Daylight Plateau shooting leaves one dead

A 30-year-old man is dead after a daytime shooting on the Plateau Monday afternoon.

SPVM spokesman Simon Delorme said police are investigating the fatal daytime shooting of a 30-year-old man in the Plateau neighbourhood.

Officers from a nearby police station responded to the scene after hearing a gun go off around 3:15 p.m. Calls to 911 followed almost immediately.

Police found the man in an alley between De Mentana and St-André streets near Marie-Anne Street bleeding from at least one gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim, who is known to police, died from his wounds early Monday evening.

The shooting is Montreal’s 21st homicide of 2013.

Police are investigating.
