Cyclist seriously injured after being hit by car

A cyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Côte-des-Neiges Sunday night.

Montreal police say driver could face charges, after running a red light and hitting cyclist on Décarie Blvd

A driver ran a red light and hit a cyclist on Sunday evening, sending him to hospital in critical condition. (Radio-Canada)

A cyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Côte-des-Neiges Sunday night.

Montreal police said witnesses saw the vehicle run a red light while heading north on Décarie Boulevard at about 10 p.m. near the Van Horne Avenue intersection.

The car struck a cyclist, a man in his 40s, heading west on Van Horne Avenue. 

Police said the driver immediately stopped to help the cyclist, who was rushed to hospital.

Investigators met with the driver on the scene.

Police said he could be facing charges. 

Alcohol and speed were not factors in the incident, according to Montreal police.
