Quebec provincial police say they consider the deaths of Luc Gélinas, 54, and Julie Lemieux, 35, to be suspicious.

The couple was found dead in a house in the Lachenaie area of Terrebonne, Que., according to the Sûreté du Québec.

A 911 call was placed around 10 a.m. ET Thursday.

"Around 10 a.m. this morning, Terrebonne city police were called to go to a residence on Pierre-le-Gardeur [Boulevard] in Terrebonne. On the site they found two inanimate bodies. They asked for assistance from the Sûreté du Québec," said SQ Sgt. Gino Paré.

Officials, who say the victims were both employees at Quebec's liquor board (SAQ), have no theory yet as to what may have caused their deaths.

SQ officers arrived around 1 p.m. ET.

They cordoned off Pierre-le-Gardeur Boulevard, the street on which the incident took place, and the investigation is expected to continue into the night.

Terrebonne is just off the northeastern tip of the island of Montreal.
