Construction worker dead after falling 12 storeys

A construction worker, 36, is dead after police say he fell down the elevator shaft of a building under construction.

A construction worker, 36 is dead after police say he fell down the elevator shaft of a building under construction.

Police got a call shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday about the accident at the building at 1155 Saint-Charles West, in the borough of old Longueuil.

Officers started to perform CPR when they arrived on the scene.

The man was transported to hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead soon after.

Officials with the Quebec Workplace Health and Safety Board are investigating.
