UPDATE: The CBC Do Crew has its 20 volunteers for next Saturday's event! Thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm for this cause. If you aren't one of the volunteers, you can still like to attend the game and support the cause. Click here for more on the fifth annual Montreal Stars fundraiser for breast cancer care.
The Montreal Stars women's hockey team is gearing up for its fifth annual fundraising hockey game.
Most of the money raised goes to the Breast Cancer Wellness Centre of the Cedars Cancer Institute (MUHC) and some of it goes to the Montreal Stars organization, which is a non-profit group as well.
Many of the players on the team have a friend or family member who has fought against breast cancer. That's the reason they chose to start this fundraising tradition. Since the team first started, it has donated over $45,000 to the cause of breast cancer.
On Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, the Montreal Stars will take on the Toronto Furies at the Étienne Desmarteau arena in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough. The fundraising game features a silent auction among other activities. They'll need help from about 50 volunteers to make it all work. This month the Do Crew is looking for its largest crew ever!
WHO: 20 volunteers in all. (Update: We've reached our volunteer goal! Thank you!)
WHAT: We'll be helping with, among other tasks: set up, checking tickets, handing out door prizes, selling t-shirts, overseeing autograph session and clean up
WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 21 2015
WHERE: Étienne-Desmarteau arena, 3430 Bellechasse, Rosemont.
