Candidates' lists now closed for municipal elections

It’s now officially too late to register as a candidate in the Nov. 3 municipal elections in Montreal and in towns and cities across the province of Quebec

A record 12 candidates running for Montreal mayor

It’s now officially too late to register as a candidate in the Nov. 3 municipal elections in Montreal and in towns and cities across the province of Quebec.

The period for registering ended at 4:30 p.m. today.

The official list of candidates for each municipality will be released on Monday.

Montreal had 12 candidates for mayor registered as of Friday afternoon, tying a record set in 2001.

The candidates for mayor are:

  • Michel Brûlé 
  • Marcel Côté 
  • Denis Coderre 
  • Louai Hamida 
  • Mélanie Joly 
  • Paunel Paterne Matondot
  • Clément Sauriol
  • Kofi Sonokpon
  • Patricia Tulasne
  • Joseph Young

The Montreal elections office said there are 406 candidates for all council positions across the city.
