The Montreal Canadiens versus the New York Rangers isn't the Eastern Conference final that most people were expecting this season, but the Original Six match up has a lot going for it.

The Rangers have had a playoff run that seems made for the big screen.

And the Habs have hopes running high north of the border that the Stanley Cup might finally return to Canada for the first time since the Habs last won it in 1993.

For Rangers coach Alain Vigneault, playing against the team that gave him his first head coaching job from 1997 to 2001 will have special meaning. Vigneault and Habs coach Michel Therrien also go way back.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.
