In a game where Montreal's defence was shaky, forward Rene Bourque's performance was exactly what the doctor ordered.

"He's realized that this is the important time of the year, this is the time where guys have to step up and elevate their game and he's been a beast for us," Josh Gorges said of Bourque.

But only time will tell whether the momentum from Tuesday's see-saw match will be enough to keep the fire lit under them.

It's do or die time again for the Habs at Madison Square Garden tonight. The puck drops at 8 p.m. Stream the game live on CBC.ca/sports.
