Here’s what’s open and closed for Canada Day in Montreal and Quebec City:

Most retail shops are closed today in accordance with the law, including shopping malls like Rockland Centre and Fairview Pointe-Claire.

Exceptions to this rule include restaurants, service stations, bookstores, antique shops, and florists.

Grocery stores, pharmacies and some SAQ branch stores also have the right to open today between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Public markets including the Jean-Talon Market and the Atwater Market are open today.

Parking fees on city streets are not waived today and remain in effect.

Most City of Montreal, city borough and Access Montreal offices are all closed.

Garbage collection scheduled for today will take place — except in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.

Montreal's seven Ecocentres are open for the disposal of recyclable goods.

July 1 opening hours for arenas, swimming pools, sports centers, libraries and cultural venues vary according to borough.

Pointe-à-Callière Museum, the Biodome, Insectarium, Botanical Garden, Planetarium Rio Tinto Alcan, Montreal Museum of Fine Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art are open.

In Quebec

All City of Québec offices and all municipal libraries are closed for the day. Government offices are also closed.
