Police have set up a perimeter in a Laval park after a body was discovered in a burning car earlier this morning.
The car, which was parked in a lot in the Berthiaume-Du Tremblay Park near the shore of the Rivière des Prairies, was spotted by people in the area at around 9:30 a.m.
Police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene and the fire was quickly extinguished, said Const. Franco di Genova.
That's when the body was discovered, he said. A perimeter has been set up around the vehicle, and the coroner has been notified, he said.
"The body is very badly burned," he said. "We can't tell at this point if it's a man or a woman."
It's also too early to say if the death is the result of foul play, he said.
