Marco Dallago of Austria won in the men’s competition at the Red Bull Crashed Ice downhill skating event in Quebec City Saturday, in front of 110,000 spectators in Vieux-Québec.
Dallago also won the world championship with three wins in four races.
He only needed to reach the quarterfinals in this event to clinch the title, as he was 840 points ahead of his closest rival, Cameron Naasz, in the standings.
Canadian Scott Croxall was second, and Dallago’s brother Luca third.
The 2013 world champion Derek Wedge finished fourth.
Salla Kyhala of Finland won the women’s event, beating Canadians Jacqueline Legere and Alicia Blomberg.
The event also included a friendly race between short-track speed skaters Charles and François Hamelin. Charles, who won the gold medal in the men’s 1,500-metre event at the Sochi Olympics, beat his brother to the finish line.
