Attack in bar leaves 27-year-old man in critical condition

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after being attacked overnight in a resto-bar at the corner of Ste-Catherine Street West and Fort Street.

Montreal police were called to Fort and Ste-Catherine around 2:30 a.m. Thursday after one man attacked another inside a resto-bar.

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after being attacked overnight in a resto-bar at the corner of Ste-Catherine Street West and Fort Street.

The unknown assailant grabbed what Officer François Collard of the Montreal police described as a “weapon of opportunity,” inflicting upper-body wounds on the victim.

“The suspect grabbed something in his immediate environment to attack the victim with said weapon,” Collard said.

Police were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. and the victim was transported to hospital, where he remains this morning.

Collard said police are still looking for the suspect.
