Armed standoff in old bus in Quebec results in 1 arrest
Longueuil police say weapons were found on property
A man is in custody after barricading himself in an old school bus on his property in Longueuil, Que., during an armed standoff with police earlier today.
Police were called to the property on Ste-Marguerite Street just after 10 a.m. where they found an armed man in the bus parked in the driveway.
Several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution, and a tactical team moved in to negotiate with the armed man.
The standoff lasted about three hours before a suspect was arrested "without incident."
Patrick Barriere, a spokesman for the Longueuil police, said a rifle was found on the bus and three more weapons in the suspect's home, all registered.
The suspect — who police say is 33 years old — is being interrogated this afternoon and faces possible firearms-related charges.
