Man found dead in Anjou believed to have links to organized crime
Montreal police major crimes unit taking over investigation
Police say they're investigating the fifth homicide of the year after a man was found dead in the Montreal borough of Anjou on Saturday.
The 47-year-old victim was known to police.
Police have not yet released the name of the man, but according to sources who spoke with CBC's French language service Radio-Canada, the victim is Nicola Di Marco and he has ties to the Montreal Mafia.
The body was discovered shortly before 8:30 a.m. by a passerby in a parking lot at the intersection of M B Jodoin Avenue and Galeries d'Anjou Boulevard, said Montreal police Const. Raphaël Bergeron.
Although the circumstances of his death are unclear, police said signs of violence on the corpse indicate the man's death is suspicious.
The major crimes unit of the Montreal police have taken over the investigation.
Police do not yet have any suspects or witnesses.
