Three Montreal firefighters are being treated for smoke inhalation after a fire destroyed a duplex in Anjou late Tuesday night.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. and spread quickly from the basement to the roof of the building on Bretagne Avenue in Montreal's east end.

At one point the roof partially collapsed, forcing firefighters from the building.

The three firefighters being treated for smoke inhalation are expected to recover, said Ian Ritchie of the Montreal fire department.
