A Quebec woman has been charged with aggravated harassment for allegedly stalking American actor Alec Baldwin.
Genevieve Sabourin, a 40-year-old actor from Candiac on Montreal’s South Shore, was arrested Sunday in New York and taken to central booking.
New York police told the CBC that the woman allegedly barraged the actor with texts and emails professing her love, and followed him around the city. He wanted no contact with her.
According to the Daily News, Sabourin allegedly travelled to New York from her Quebec home and repeatedly tried to meet up with Baldwin face to face.
Baldwin called police on March 31 after a strange car pulled into his East Hampton driveway. Police were made aware of other harassment-related incidents in the city and investigators told the Daily News they believe the same woman was involved.
"As you know, stalking is a serious issue, so we've turned this matter over to the New York Police Department," Baldwin's spokesperson Matthew Hiltzik told CBC Montreal.
Sabourin has had small parts in TV shows and films.
Her profile on the Internet Movie Database credits her as working as a publicist on The Adventures of Pluto Nash, a 2002 movie in which Baldwin had a brief cameo.
