2 dead at Montreal homeless shelter
Montreal police say foul play not suspected
Montreal police are investigating after two men were found dead at a homeless shelter Saturday morning.
The men, aged 56 and 75, were found by staff at the Maison du Père shelter on René Levesque Boulevard around 6 a.m.
Police said it appears both men died of natural causes.
They don't believe foul play was involved.
The manager of the Maison du Père, France Desjardins, said the older man was a long-time client of the shelter and had a history of heart problems.
She said the 56-year-old man had recently arrived in Montreal from France.
"It's just an unfortunate coincidence," Desjardins said, adding that it will be difficult for the other men at the shelter, many of whom knew the older man well.
"They all know each other," she said. "So they will all feel for him and it will be sad."
