Officers were called to a home on Ewing Street in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield around 1 a.m. ET Wednesday, where they found a man suffering from serious injuries.

The man, Pascal Émond, had been shot.

"On the scene they found a man aged in his 30s that was seriously injured. He was then transported to hospital by ambulance where, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead. We’re still very early in the investigation but the information we’ve gathered so far indicate that this is a homicide," said Sgt. Joyce Kemp of the Sûreté Du Québec.
