About 1,200 police officers from across Canada gathered in Bromont, Que., Friday to mourn Vincent Roy, an officer struck and killed by a truck on a highway shoulder.
Roy died Dec. 1 while patrolling Highway 139 near Adamsville in the Eastern Townships.
The 37-year-old had pulled over a vehicle and was standing near it when he was struck by an oncoming truck.
His funeral was held at Saint-François-Xavier Church in Bromont Friday at 2 p.m.
Roy joined the Bromont force last summer after working for the RCMP in Alberta.
He leaves a wife and two children, aged eight and 10.
