Montreal's interim mayor said he is getting the city, which has been rattled by allegations of corruption, back on track.

In an interview with CBC News, Michael Applebaum said he has taken a step to clean things up following bombshell allegations at the Charbonneau commission.

Applebaum acknowledged taxpayers' dollars were wasted through kickbacks for years, but said the new executive committee will aim to protect the population.

Keep an eye open for the second part of Andrew Chang's interview with Applebaum on CBC Montreal's local news Friday evening.
