More than four months after the provincial election, the results from the Wood River riding are finally in. And Glen McPherson, the Liberal candidate, is the winner by one vote.
McPherson defeats the Saskatchewan Party's Yogi Hughebaert. The result was released this afternoon, after a special count by a judge. However, that may not be the end of it. The Saskatchewan Party plans to challenge the result in the courts. That could well bring about a a by-election. Bill Boyd speaks for the Sask Party.
In: "clearly in the judge's Runs: 21 secs. Ends:...to do that."
"clearly in the judge's decision, he is saying that the election results should be overturned based on irregularities in mail in ballots and other irregularities and he simply isn't in a position to be able to do that. But I believe that it will be overturned and we will be moving to do that."
The Wood River constituency has had no M-L-A for more than five months.
